Ryde - A Great Holiday Destination
Ryde is the largest town on the Isle of Wight and is often referred to “As The Gateway to The Island” due to its prominent position on the seafront and quick, easy access to the mainland which, by Hovercraft or FastCat passenger services, is a short 10-15 minutes Solent crossing. By car the town is some 15 minutes drive from the Portsmouth to Fishbourne ferry terminal.Once at Ryde it is a great base to explore the Isle of Wight. It boasts an excellent sunshine record and bus services to all parts of the island. Also the railway runs along the coast as far as Shanklin.
The town offers a whole host of attractions including a long esplanade with super views across the Solent, sandy beaches with shallow water ,a marina, large attractive park and gardens, tennis courts, swimming pool and boat lake. Then there are a vast array of unique shops as well as a supermarket, a Victorian arcade, cinema, wide selection of eating places to suite all tastes and budgets and much, much more.
